Our Founders

Kelly Nash
Dr. Kelly Nash is a clinical psychologist who currently practices with Dr. Rachel Greenbaum & Associates in downtown Toronto. Dr. Nash is the CEO and co-founder of Firefly Psychology Centre, launched in 2025 as a way of providing psychological services to families with limited access.
As a teenager growing up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Dr. Nash began working closely with youth at city-run drop in centres. Working with only a gymnasium provided, she was determined to offer programming to the youth who attended her centre. She quickly learned to fundraise for sports tickets, pizza lunches, and food supplies to teach culinary skills. Dr. Nash had learned how cooking could build community by observing her father’s work as a baker.
Dr. Nash’s mother was an educator and the first person in her family to obtain a university degree. Listening to her mother share stories about her students, who had limited financial resources, learning challenges, and poor access to support, made her want to learn how to be of service in her community. Her interest in mental health and education eventually led her to Toronto, where she began her intensive training in human behaviour, mental health, education, and diversity.
She graduated from the School and Child Clinical Psychology Program at the University of Toronto (at OISE) in 2012. Dr. Nash has trained, worked, and supervised students in many renowned hospital and educational settings across Canada including The Hospital for Sick Children, B.C. Children’s Hospital, McMaster Children’s Hospital, and the Toronto District School Board. In these settings Dr. Nash has learned about different systems of service delivery and the unique challenges they face in providing OHIP covered services. She began to wonder, is there a different way to reach families who face difficulties accessing services due to financial constraints?
With Firefly, Dr. Nash and her long-time mentor and friend Dr. Greenbaum have created a unique model by pairing donor-funding with the types of service delivery found at private practice settings. At Firefly, families will have access to high quality assessments and therapeutic experiences, psychologists will be partners in developing meaningful and deliverable pathways for change and care will be provided with dignity and compassion.

Rachel Greenbaum
Dr. Rachel Greenbaum is a clinical psychologist and the founding director of a Toronto-based private practice offering assessment, therapy, and consultation. Her journey to becoming a passionate advocate for children’s mental health began early — her father, an accomplished child psychiatrist, was an important role model consulting to several community agencies and travelling to far flung regions of Ontario where he provided mental health care access to underserved northern communities.
As a teenager she worked in a high-school based daycare centre serving students and families from a local government housing project. She attended the University of Toronto where she planned to major in English Literature. After excelling in an introductory psychology class she was encouraged by the university to consider majoring in psychology. Upon graduating, she pursued both research and clinical experience as she worked toward earning her doctorate in clinical psychology.
She worked with children undergoing cancer treatment and adolescents undergoing substance abuse treatment at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children. She initiated and collaborated on several research studies, including research into the long-term impact of prenatal alcohol and drug exposure. More recently she collaborated with the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in Washington DC on developing a suicide risk screening tool for youth with Autism and Developmental Disability.
She continues to support children and families in her practice, and works collaboratively with community organizations including graduate training programs and child protection agencies. Dr. Greenbaum believes that in our increasingly complicated society, it is imperative that every child and family be able to readily access needed mental health support. Launching Firefly is a step toward achieving this goal.
